HERE'S TODAY'S SCHEDULE: 1. Reading - We will continue our Charlotte's Web unit and today's chapters are 3 and 4. As a reminder: You will be reading 2 chapters every Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday so we can finish the book by the end of the school year. I will be sending you vocabulary lists (as attachments in emails) as well as Reading Responses (as attachments in emails) to complete after each chapter in your Reading Journal. Please glue each vocabulary list in your journal and if you want you can glue the Reading Responses too. During our Monday and Wednesday Zoom Meetings, I will read 1 chapter to you as you follow along. That 2nd chapter, you will need to read with a parent, sibling, or another family member. If you have any questions, please write them down, and you can ask me during our Zoom Meeting this morning. 2. Scholastic Magazine - This week's issue is: "Beach of Glass." 1) Rewatch the video for this issue; 2) Go over the vocabulary slides; 3) Complete "Read and Think" worksheet (I sent as an attachment in this morning's email). Make sure to use each question in your answer AND use your magazine as a resource when answering your questions. 3. Math - This week's focus is Partitioning Squares, Rectangles, and Circles in Halves, Thirds, and Fourths. 1) Practice your addition and subtraction facts 0-20 (flashcards or Fact Dash); 2) Practice telling time throughout the day with an analog clock; 3) Practice adding and subtracting different amounts of money (coins and dollars); 4) Complete wkbk pg. 779, #7-16 (I sent as an attachment in this morning's email). 4. Writing - This week's focus is a continuation of last week's Personal Narrative - a true story about your life. 1) Please watch Episode 6: "Revising" and then in your Writing Journal make improvements by adding words (adjectives/adverbs), removing words, or changing words to your Personal Narrative you have written. Please reread each sentence out loud to make sure it makes sense. Grammar - Complete Weekly Word Wizard - Set 4, Week 2, #1-9 (I sent as an attachment in this morning's email). 6. Social Studies - We will continue our unit on Jimmy Carter. 1) Read the Social Studies Weekly on Jimmy Carter (6 pages) and if there is a video on that page, go ahead and watch it. 2) Complete the 3 activities at the end: Primary and Secondary Sources, Draw on the Map, and Write a Sentence. Here are the steps to get to the Social Studies Weekly Magazine: 1) Go to the Cobb County Schools Homepage; 2) Click on the "Parents" tab at the top of the page; 3) Under "Parent Resources" scroll down to "Digital Textbooks" and click on it; 4) Click on "Kindergarten-2nd Grade;" 5) Scroll down to "Social Studies" and then scroll to the right so you're under the "2nd Grade Resources" column and click on "Social Studies Weekly;" 6) Click on the orange Grade 2 Georgia Studies Weekly- My State; 7) Scroll all the way down to Week 29 and click on the blue rectangle "Continue Reading;" 8) You should be ready to read all about Jimmy Carter. 7.
