Reading - try to read at least 20 minutes this weekend towards your 200 Book Club goal!!! Math - review your addition and subtraction facts for Rocket Math and Round the World. We will be having our pre-visit on Thursday, 9/6 with an officer from the Fire Safety Village to prepare for our up-coming field trip on Thursday, 9/13. Here is what we will be learning next week: Math- Addition and Subtraction Strategies within 10 (Counting On, Making Ten, Counting Back, Decomposing, Balancing Equations)/Review Skip Counting. Reading/ELA- Ask and Answer Questions, Story Structure (Beginning, Middle, End), and Problem/Solution. We will continue reviewing long/short vowel sounds, adjectives, and nouns. I will introduce collective nouns. Writing- Narrative writing (small moment stories) Science- We will conclude our investigation of matter changes. We will also be constructing explanations for how structures made from small pieces can be disassembled and rearranged to make new and different structures. STEAM - We will finish our Base Ten Blocks creations.

Your child has a specific day in the classroom when he/she can swap out his/her classroom library books from his/her book bin. I am also going to make this book swap day your child's designated day to go to the ILC in the mornings after unpacking his/her backpack to return, check-out, or renew his/her books from the ILC. Here is what we will be learning next week: Math- We will be continuing with place value to 1,000 and skip counting, and then moving to addition and subtraction strategies within 10. Reading/ELA- Ask and answer questions when we read/Learning about story structure (beginning, middle, and end). We will continue with nouns and adjectives. In phonics we are still learning and practicing long vs. short vowels. Writing- Personal narratives; Small moment stories. Science - We will continue with matter (solids, liquids, and gases) and investigating how it changes.
