Reading - continue with our Charlotte's Web unit: 1) Today's chapters are 17 and 18. 2) Please review the vocabulary words for Chapters 16-18 to refresh your memory; 3) Read Chapter 17 aloud with a parent, sibling, grandparent, etc; 4) Complete your Reading Response for Chapter 17 in your Reading Journal; 5) Read Chapter 18 aloud with a parent, sibling, grandparent, etc; 6) Complete your Reading Response for Chapter 18 in your Reading Journal. 2. Scholastic Magazine - This week's issue is: "The Volcano that Stopped Summer." 1) Watch the video for this issue; 2) Go over the vocabulary slides; 3) Play the game; 4) Complete "Word Work" skills sheet (I sent as an attachment in this morning's email). 5) Complete "Reading Checkpoint" skills sheet (I sent as an attachment in this morning's email). Use your magazine as a resource when answering your questions. We will correct both of these skills sheets during our Monday morning Zoom meeting. Please have them near your area when we Zoom. 3. Math - This week's focus is Money Problem Solving. 1) Practice your addition and subtraction facts 0-20 (flashcards or Fact Dash); 2) Practice telling time throughout the day with an analog clock; 3) Practice adding and subtracting different amounts of money (coins and dollars). We will correct this during our Zoom meeting Monday morning at 10:00. Please have your Math 4 Today Week #31 sheet near your area when we Zoom. 5) Finish your Money Word Problems worksheet (#5 today) that I sent as an attachment in Monday's email. 4. Writing - Please finish the final draft of your Personal Narrative and email it to me - a true story about your life. 1) Write a final draft of your narrative from what you wrote in your Writing Journal on a piece of notebook paper (like we did at school). On the top line of the paper, write the title of your Personal Narrative. On the 2nd line write By "your name." Remember to skip a line (space) between each of your paragraphs. 2) Draw an illustration/picture on the back of your notebook paper that has to do with your narrative OR you can draw your picture on a piece of computer paper. Please reread each sentence out loud to make sure it makes sense. Remember your capital letters and punctuation marks. Remember to use neat handwriting!! 3) Finish your letter to this week's pen pal and mail. 5. Grammar - Complete Weekly Word Wizard - Set 4, Week 4, #10-21 (I sent as an attachment in this morning's email). We will correct this during our Zoom meeting Monday morning at 10:00. Please have your Word Wizard near your area when we Zoom. 6. Social Studies - This week we will focus on Goods and Services. 1) Read Social Studies Weekly: Week #22 "Trade and Barter" (8 pages) and if there is a video on that page, go ahead and watch it. 2) Complete the activities at the end: Draw a Picture and Write a Sentence. Here are the steps to get to the Social Studies Weekly Magazine: 1) Go to the Cobb County Schools Homepage; 2) Click on the "Parents" tab at the top of the page; 3) Under "Parent Resources" scroll down to "Digital Textbooks" and click on it; 4) Click on "Kindergarten-2nd Grade;" 5) Scroll down to "Social Studies" and then scroll to the right so you're under the "2nd Grade Resources" column and click on "Social Studies Weekly;" 6) Click on the orange Grade 2 Georgia Studies Weekly- My State; 7) Scroll all the way down to Week 10 and click on the blue rectangle "Continue Reading;" 8) You should be ready to read all about Trading and Bartering. 7.
