P.S. Please have your Charlotte's Web Book (if you have one) near you too when we Zoom Monday morning. HERE'S TODAY'S SCHEDULE: 1. Reading - continue with our Charlotte's Web unit: 1) Today's chapters are 5 and 6. As a reminder: You will be reading 2 chapters every Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday so we can finish the book by the end of the school year. I will be sending you vocabulary lists (as attachments in emails) as well as Reading Responses (as attachments in emails) to complete after each chapter in your Reading Journal. Please glue each vocabulary list in your journal and if you want you can glue the Reading Responses too. During our Monday and Wednesday Zoom Meetings, I will read 1 chapter to you as you follow along. That 2nd chapter, you will need to read with a parent, sibling, or another family member. 2) Please review the vocabulary words for Chapters 4-6 to refresh your memory; 3) Read Chapter 5 aloud with a parent, sibling, grandparent, etc; 4) Complete your Reading Response for Chapter 5 in your Reading Journal; 5) Read Chapter 6 aloud with a parent, sibling, grandparent, etc; 6) Complete your Reading Response for Chapter 6 in your Reading Journal. 2. Scholastic Magazine - This week's issue is: "Beach of Glass." 1) Watch the video for this issue; 2) Go over the vocabulary slides; 3) Play the game; 4) Complete "Word Work" skills sheet (I sent as an attachment in this morning's email). 5) Complete "Reading Checkpoint" skills sheet (I sent as an attachment in this morning's email). Use your magazine as a resource when answering your questions. We will correct both of these skills sheets during our Monday morning Zoom meeting. Please have them near your area when we Zoom. 3. Math - This week's focus is Partitioning Squares, Rectangles, and Circles in Halves, Thirds, and Fourths. 1) Practice your addition and subtraction facts 0-20 (flashcards or Fact Dash); 2) Practice telling time throughout the day with an analog clock; 3) Practice adding and subtracting different amounts of money (coins and dollars); 4) Complete wkbk pgs. 780-781, #1-13 (I sent as an attachment in this morning's email). 4. Writing - This week's focus is a continuation of last week's Personal Narrative - a true story about your life. 1) Please watch Episode 7: "Editing" and then in your Writing Journal reread your narrative and check for correct spelling of words, that you used correct punctuation, and that you used a capital letter on those words that need to be capitalized. Grammar - Complete Weekly Word Wizard - Set 4, Week 2, #10-21 (I sent as an attachment in this morning's email). We will correct this during our Monday morning Zoom meeting. Please have this near your area when we Zoom. 6. Social Studies - We will continue our unit on Jimmy Carter. 1) Read Social Studies Weekly Week 30 on "Jimmy Carter and Peace" (6 pages) and if there is a video on that page, go ahead and watch it. 2) Complete the 3 activities at the end: Map Activity, Let's Write, and Fact or Opinion. Here are the steps to get to the Social Studies Weekly Magazine: 1) Go to the Cobb County Schools Homepage; 2) Click on the "Parents" tab at the top of the page; 3) Under "Parent Resources" scroll down to "Digital Textbooks" and click on it; 4) Click on "Kindergarten-2nd Grade;" 5) Scroll down to "Social Studies" and then scroll to the right so you're under the "2nd Grade Resources" column and click on "Social Studies Weekly;" 6) Click on the orange Grade 2 Georgia Studies Weekly- My State; 7) Scroll all the way down to Week 30 and click on the blue rectangle "Continue Reading;" 8) You should be ready to read all about Jimmy Carter and Peace. 7. Moby Max - continue with the lessons I have assigned. 8. Discovery Education Streaming Video - this is a cool video to watch on Earth Day! Follow these steps: 1) Go to MackinVIA; 2) Scroll down to "Discovery Education Streaming" and click on it; 3) In the Search Bar, type in "Earth Day;" 4) Click on 2nd picture that has huge blue photo of the Earth - should be 13 minutes and 7 seconds long (13:07). If these directions do not work, please email me and I will figure another way for you to watch the video.
