HERE'S TODAY'S SCHEDULE: 1. Reading - We will be starting our Charlotte's Web unit today. You will be reading 2 chapters every Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday so we can finish the book by the end of the school year. I will be sending you vocabulary lists (as attachments in emails) as well as Reading Responses (as attachments in emails) to complete after each chapter in your Reading Journal. Please glue each vocabulary list in your journal and if you want you can glue the Reading Responses too. During our Monday and Wednesday Zoom Meetings, I will read 1 chapter to you as you follow along. That 2nd chapter, you will need to read with a parent, sibling, or another family member. If you have any questions, please write them down, and you can ask me during our Zoom Meeting this morning. 2. Scholastic Magazine - This week's issue is: "Beach of Glass." 1) Watch the video for this issue; 2) Go over the vocabulary slides; 3) Read this week's issue out loud just like we do in the classroom each week; 4) Read the back of the magazine and answer the questions. 3. Math - This week's focus is Partitioning Squares, Rectangles, and Circles in Halves, Thirds, and Fourths. 1) Practice your addition and subtraction facts 0-20 (flashcards or Fact Dash); 2) Practice telling time throughout the day with an analog clock; 3) Practice adding and subtracting different amounts of money (coins and dollars); 4) Complete Math 4 Today Assessment #28 (I sent as an attachment in this morning's email); 5) Complete wkbk pg. 778, #1-6 (I sent as an attachment in this morning's email). 4. Writing - This week's focus is a continuation of last week's Personal Narrative - a true story about your life. 1) Please watch Episode 5: "Writing a Closing/Conclusion" and then in your Writing Journal (remember to write today's date: 4/20/2020) write a conclusion to your Personal Narrative (at least 3-4 sentences). Grammar - This week's focus is Suffixes. 1) Login to MackinVIA and go to BRAIN POP. 2) Type in the search bar: "Roots, Prefixes, and Suffixes." 3) Watch the video 2 times. 4) Take the quiz I assigned. It should show up for you. If it doesn't please email me and let me know. 6. Social Studies - This week we are starting our unit on Jimmy Carter. 1) Login to MackinVIA and scroll down to "Pebble Go - Biographies." 2) Click on Pebble Go and in the search bar type Jimmy Carter. 3) Click on Jimmy Carter. 4) Click on each tab at the top and read the information in all 5 tabs on Jimmy Carter 2 times each. 5) Watch the video (at bottom of screen). 6) Look at the timeline of the important events in Jimmy Carter's life (at bottom of screen). 7) In your Reading Journal (write today's date: 4/20/20) write down 3 facts that you learned about Jimmy Carter from reading the Pebble Go. 7.
