MY TARGET STUDENTS, WORK ON THE FOLLOWING: 1. Reading - 1) try to read at least 20 minutes towards your 200 Book Club Goal and your Six Flags Read to Succeed Goal; 2) In your Reading Journal (include today's date - 4/14/2020), tell me who your favorite character is in the book you are reading AND why in at least 3-5 complete sentences. Make sure to reread your sentences to make sure they make sense and that you used capital letters and correct punctuation. 2. Go to MackinVia and click on BookFlix; 1) find a pair of books you would like to read that are different from last 2 sets you have read; 2) look on the left side and start at the top - Watch a story, and then Read the book; 3) complete the 3 activities under "Puzzlers" (Word Match, Fact or Fiction, Which Comes First); 4) choose 2 activities to do under "Dive Deeper"; 5) read "Meet the Creators." 3. ReadWorks - complete the passages/assignments you have not completed yet that I assigned. 4. Math - 1) Practice your addition and subtraction facts 0-20 using Flash Cards, Fact Dash under Links in my blog, Fact Fluency (MobyMax), or Hit the Button - Number Bonds (Up to 10 and Up to 20) under Links in my blog; 2) Go to abcya.com under Links in my blog and play 2/3 games to review and strengthen your math skills. 5. Writing - start writing a letter to this week's pen pal. Reread each sentence to make sure it makes sense and that you used capital letters and correct punctuation. 6. Moby Max - work on completing lessons to review and extend concepts learned this year. 7. ReadWorks - 1) Click on "How Plants Grow" Paired Texts; 2) Reread Passage 1: "What Do Plants Need?" 3) Reread Passage 2: "Seeds Need to Move"; 4) Answer the 6 questions (reminder: if you click on the book icon in the top right corner, you can see the passage while you are answering the questions); 5) Click on the blue SUBMIT rectangle when finished answering the 6th question. 3. Scholastic Magazine - This week's issue is: "This Plant Stinks." 1) Watch the video for this issue; 2) Go over the vocabulary slides; 3) Complete "Watch this Video" worksheet (I sent as an attachment in this morning's email); 4) Read this week's issue out loud just like we do in the classroom each week; 5) Complete the back of the magazine (answer questions); 6) Complete "April Calendar" (I sent as an attachment in this morning's email). 4. Math - This week's focus is Recognize/Draw Shapes. 1) Practice your addition and subtraction facts 0-20 (flashcards or Fact Dash); 2) Practice telling time with an analog clock; 3) Practice adding and subtracting different amounts of money (coins and dollars); 4) Complete Math 4 Today Assessment #27 (I sent as an attachment in this morning's email); 5) Review Shapes Vocabulary Page (I sent as an attachment in this morning's email); 6) Scavenger Hunt: see if you can find one of each vocabulary word in your house or outside in your yard. 5. Writing - This week's focus is a Personal Narrative - a true story about your life. 1) Please watch Episode 1: "Brainstorming" and then in your Writing Journal (remember to write today's date: 4/13/2020) brainstorm 5-6 important memories you have of your life. Go to ReadWorks.org and use the same class code (BCGZX4) and your student number to login. 1) Scroll down to "Where Does Food Go?" (you may have to go to page 2) and click on the picture or the title; 2) Read the passage 2 times; 3) Click on the Vocabulary tab and learn what "digest" and "nutrient" mean; 4) Click on the Questions tab and answer the 5 main idea questions that are given - remember, you can click on the book icon at the top right and the passage will then be on half of your screen so you can see the passage while answering the questions; 5) Hit the blue submit button at the bottom when you are done with all the questions. Scholastic Magazine - 1) Watch the video for this week's issue; 2) Go over the vocabulary slides; 3) Play the game; 4) Complete "Word Work" and "Reading Checkpoint."
